Jesus spoke to the woman at the well about God "the Father". He said, "God is spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth"(John 4:23-24)
God our Father has always existed. He has no parents, no beginning, no end. He was not born, nor shall he die. The Bible often says, "From everlasting to everlasting you are God"(Psalm 90:1-2).
God our Father has always been one God, not one of many. "There is one God and Father of all who is above all, and through all, and in you all"(Ephesians 4:4-6).
God our Father has not become greater, wiser, and more powerful by stages. He and his promises have always been the same and always will be (Titus 1:2).
God our Father has always had an "eternal purpose"(Ephesians 3:11). We see it unfolding in history, but we never see it change. His grand purpose (or counsel) is immutable, unchangeable (Hebrews 1:9,2Timothy 6:17,Acts 2:23-24).
God our Father has always been completely righteous "God is light and in him there is no darkness at all"(1John 1:5).
God our Father is full of wrath [against the proud and unrepentant]. "The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath... "(Nahum 1:2)."Behold the goodness and severity of God"(Romans 11:22).
God our Father is loving and merciful [toward the humble and repentant]. Great are your tender mercies, O LORD"(Psalm 119:156)."God is love and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him"(1John 4:16).
God our Father gave his one and only unique Son to die for the world. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."(John 3:16 NKJV).
The Son Jesus Christ
The Son (Jesus) is called God by his Father. "To the Son he says,Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever."(Hebrews 1:8).
The Son (Jesus) had glory with the Father before the world existed. Jesus prayed, "O Father, glorify me together with Yourself, with the glory I had with you before the world was"(John 17:5).
The Son (Jesus) is God’s unique Son, and is eternal like his Father, and through him all things were created (John 1:3,Colossians 1:17)
The Son (Jesus) was the Word who was in the beginning with God, and who was God. He, the Word, became flesh and lived among us. (John 1:1-3,14)
The Son (Jesus) was crucified even though, like his heavenly Father, he was perfectly righteous. "He committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth"(Acts 2:22-24,1Peter 2:22).
The Son (Jesus) was raised up in the flesh from the death and burial of his body. The disciples could see he had flesh and bone (Luke 24:36-43).
The Son (Jesus), after his resurrection, ascended to heaven and was glorified (John 17:4-5).
The Son (Jesus) had his earthly body of flesh glorified with immortality, and is no longer corruptible flesh (1Timothy 6:14-16).
The Son (Jesus) lacks nothing of deity. "For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily"(Colossians 2:9 NKJV)
The Son (Jesus) is presently invisible to us, but "we know that when he is revealed we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is"(1John 3:2-3).
The Son (Jesus) is our Great High Priest and Saviour. "He continues forever [having] an unchangeable priesthood...he is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through him"(Hebrews 7:22-28).
The Son (Jesus) "is the Mediator of a better covenant"(Hebrews 8:6).
The Son (Jesus) "is at the right hand of God who also makes intercession for us "(Romans 8:34).
The Son (Jesus) will grant our petitions "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us..."(1John 5:14-15).
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God. When Ananias lied about the price of a piece of property, Peter said to him, "Why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit? ...You have not lied to men but to God"(Acts 5:3-4).
The Holy Spirit knows and reveals the mind of God "The Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God"(1Corinthians 2:9-12).
The Holy Spirit dwells in the Christian and is the guarantee of a heavenly inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14,Romans 8:10-11).
