It is relatively easy to accept God’s word by faith. It is harder to apply the word to the Christian life, and to developing the attitudes essential to that life.
Many of the problems that develop between people, and many of our weaknesses, are not caused by things we do, or fail to do. Often the cause is an attitude of mind. We make a mess of how we think and feel about ourselves, about others, and about God.
We struggle with the application of God’s word to how we think and feel, how we view the world. That's where we are really tested for genuine Christianity.
