Selected Lessons
—Threads on important topics

Below are some of the subjects discussed in simplybible.com’s hundreds of study pages. Choose any one of them to get a list of selected lessons. Tap any title next to an arrow in the list below.

ApostasyThis selection of lessons is about apostasy. Christians, although certainly secure, nurtured, and protected, will not remain so unless we respond to God’s grace and diligently fulfill his conditions according to his purpose for us.

AttitudeThe lessons in this list are about attitude. There are good and bad attitudes. The Christian should develop the good attitudes toward life and toward God. The most important attitude is gratitude.

BaptismIt is not water but the blood of Christ that washes us from sin. However it is in water baptism that, having believed in Christ, repented of sins, and confessed Christ, we enter into his death, receive the forgiveness of sins through his blood, and receive the Holy Spirit so that we might rise up from baptism to walk in new life.

Bible ChaptersEvery chapter in the Bible has its purpose, but some chapters become favourites for one reason or another. Some lessons on simplybible.com are based on a Bible chapter or a large portion of one. A few such lessons are mentioned in this index.

BloodThis selection of lessons is about redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood is the most precious material and physical thing that has ever been in this world.

ColossiansThis list provides you with studies taken from Paul’s letter to the Colossians. Some of the links take you not to a single lesson, but to a whole series of lessons in Colossians.

CovenantThis selection of lessons is about covenants old and new. Jesus Christ the Son of God is called the mediator of a better covenant enacted upon better promises (Hebrews 8:6). When this mediator delivers to us a covenant from God, we had better listen!

CrossThis selection of lessons is about the cross of Christ. Justification, sanctification, and redemption are made possible by the death of Jesus as a sacrifice. The cross of Christ is the heart of the gospel.

DavidGod’s wonderful plan was unfolding, and being foreshadowed, as David sat on his throne in Jerusalem. He represented the Christ who was to be raised up to reign from heaven. The lessons in this selection are about David.

DeathWe have birth control, but not death control. Death is a fact of everyday life. All of us, unless Jesus comes first, must keep a personal, unavoidable, appointment with death.

Eternal LifeThis selection of lessons is about eternal life. This old world passes away, but Jesus has prepared a bright new world in heaven, a new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

FaithA list of lessons about faith in Jesus Christ. The faith that pleases God is a belief that comes from God, not from some other source or from within ourselves.

GospelThe gospel of Christ is God’s power for salvation (Romans 1:16). The gospel reveals all the essentials. If we follow the gospel carefully and faithfully, then salvation is the certain result. This selection of lessons is about the gospel.

GraceGod saw that we are in need of salvation yet unworthy of it. In his great love he offers it to us as a gift. “By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God”. (Ephesians 2:8).

Holy SpiritHere are some wonderful lessons about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to sanctify us, seal us, strengthen us, and speak for us as our paraclete and intercessor.

HopeThis selection of lessons is about hope. Only hell itself could be worse than having no hope and being without God in the world (Ephesians 2:12). “If we have hope... only in this life... we are most miserable of all people” (1Corinthians 15:19).

Issues of InterestThis index guides you to the lessons on simplybible.com dealing with “Issues of Interest”. These series discuss several controversial matters.

Jesus ChristThis index guides you to the lessons on simplybible.com clustered around the topic, “Jesus Christ”. From this index you can very quickly find lessons related to what interests you about Jesus.

JoyThere is both sorrow and joy in this world, and both cups together can be full to overflowing. However, if we are in Christ, the joy will be everlasting whilst the sorrow will be only temporary.

JustificationFew lessons are more important than lessons about being justified. Justification is being made right with God. We are deemed righteous because our sins have been forgiven and blotted out.

Kingdom of GodThe king of this wonderful kingdom is Jesus Christ, who reigns from heaven. The new spiritual kingdom of God became a world wide kingdom just as Daniel had predicted when he interpreted Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.

Last DaysThis index guides you to the lessons on simplybible.com dealing with the topic, “The Last Days”. From this index you can quickly find lessons on the side of that topic which interests you.

Light and InsightThis index guides you to lessons on simplybible.com dealing with the topic, “Light and Insight”.

Law of GodI've chosen these lessons about law. The law of God must be in our hearts. When promising the new covenant, God said, “Behold the days are coming when I will make a new covenant... I will put my law within them and on their heart I will write it...” (Jeremiah 31:31-33).

LoveHere are some lessons about love. The love of Christ is not too deep to know. Our deepest need is to know it. The Christian walk, our living in obedience to God, is on a pathway paved with a special kind of love.

MelchizedekThis selection of lessons is about Melchizedek. Melchizedek was not only a king; he was also a priest of the Most High God. Melchizedek symbolized Christ and his new priesthood and law.

MinistryEvery Christian is a minister in some important way. In the New Testament church, there was a great diversity of gifts and ministries in which people served God as stewards of God’s manifold grace.

Plan (God’s)This index guides you to the lessons on simplybible.com about “God’s Plan of Salvation”. This plan is God’s will for us and our only prospect of salvation.

PrayerThis selection of lessons is about prayer. “Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God...” (Philippians 4:4-7).

ProphecyA list of lessons about prophecy and how to interpret it. The writings of the Old Testament prophets testified of Jesus Christ. Jesus himself made that claim (John 5:39,46).

SacrificeThis selection of lessons is about sacrifice. The body and blood of Jesus, because he was without sin, made an offering that satisfied God once and for all. By that perfect offering we are being perfected and sanctified.

SalvationThe lessons in this list are about salvation. Salvation is being forgiven of sins, rescued and preserved from the doom of all sinners. By the grace of God, we are given eternal life.

Second ComingThis selection of lessons is about the second coming of Jesus Christ. Not only did Christ die for our sins, rise from the dead, and ascend into glory, but he is also coming again in the future to judge the world.

Self ImageThe Bible teaches the importance of proper self esteem. A poor self image makes an unfruitful servant of God.

SinA list of lessons about sin, its seriousness, its source, and its solution. Among other questions, we examine how sin and death spread to all humans. Was it by heredity or by contagion?

SufferingThis selection of lessons is about suffering. Pain and suffering must be endured with the help of Christ. He suffered for us and he suffers with us. No matter how Satan afflicts us, we can overcome tribulation.

WorksA list of lessons concerning the place of works in salvation by grace through faith. Is salvation by faith alone or is it by the obedience of faith? Are works of obedience to God a required part of faith?

WorshipThis selection of lessons is about worshipping God in the right way. People sometimes expect God to be pleased with whatever “worship” they dish up to him. If it feels good to them, they think it will be acceptable to God.
